How we keep this catalogue current

What gets updated, how often, what the arithmetic on the cards rests on, and what happens to a box that goes out of stock.

Prices

Every price on this site comes out of our own product data and is rewritten when it moves. The catalogue was last updated on September 2, 2026, and at that update it held 3 boxes in stock. Where a figure here and the figure at the till disagree, the till is the one that counts.

A box we cannot currently buy does not appear at all. It is not hidden behind a “currently unavailable” label: it comes off the site at the next build and comes back by itself when it returns to stock, because the catalogue behind these pages keeps asking about it either way.

Price per wipe, and days per box

Both are arithmetic on the same data. The price per wipe is the box price divided by the number of squares in it, to a tenth of a cent. The days a box lasts are the count divided by 12, which is six changes a day with a wet square and a dry one each, and that rate is printed beside the figure everywhere it appears so you can scale it to your own household. The number of changes a young baby needs comes from the pediatric guidance in the register below; the two squares a change is our own habit, and it is stated as such.

Pictures

Every pack photograph is of the box being sold. Where a manufacturer frame carries a marketing banner printed into the image, we crop the banner off rather than caption around it, and a frame that argues with what is written beside it is pulled instead. The film on the front page is made from the same photographs.

Health statements and the words on the pack

Anything on this site that touches a baby’s skin, a rash, the word hypoallergenic, the word biodegradable or the word flushable is written under a published source rather than over one. The register below is the whole of it, and every entry was opened and read on September 2, 2026 before a link was put on it. A wipe cleans skin and does not treat it, and the pages that touch health say so in a printed note.

Corrections

If a number on this site argues with the one on the pack in your hand, write to cotton@whoopsiewipes.net with the page and the figure. It gets fixed at the next update, and we say what changed. Where this comes from

Common Diaper Rashes & Treatments · American Academy of Pediatrics, HealthyChildren.org. Choose wipes free of alcohol and fragrance, or cleanse the skin with water and a gentle non-soap cleanser, which may be less painful than wiping when the skin is irritated. Change diapers frequently, use a thick layer of barrier paste with zinc oxide or petrolatum, and call the pediatrician if a rash is not going away or is getting worse after two to three days, has pimples, blisters or oozing sores, is especially painful, or comes with a fever. Bathing Your Baby · American Academy of Pediatrics, HealthyChildren.org. Sponge baths until the umbilical cord stump falls off, with a damp washcloth rinsed in soap-free water. Soaps can dry a baby’s skin; if a cleanser is needed for a heavily soiled area, use a mild, neutral-pH soap without additives and rinse it off right away. Three baths a week during the first year may be enough. Read September 2, 2026.
Baby’s First Days: Bowel Movements & Urination · American Academy of Pediatrics, HealthyChildren.org. A baby may urinate as often as every one to three hours or as infrequently as four to six times a day. Many newborns pass a stool soon after each feeding. These are the figures behind the number of changes a day used in the pack arithmetic on this site. Read September 2, 2026.
Washing and bathing your baby · NHS (UK National Health Service). Topping and tailing: cotton wool dipped in warm water, a fresh piece for each eye and each area, wiping from the nose outward. Wash the nappy area with fresh cotton wool and warm water and dry very carefully, including between the skin folds. Cotton and water is the method; a dry cotton wipe is a square of the same thing. How to treat diaper rash · American Academy of Dermatology. Change all dirty diapers, even if they are just wet, as soon as possible. Clean the area with water and a soft washcloth or fragrance-free baby wipes; for a severe rash, a squirt bottle of water is gentler. Let the skin air dry, apply a zinc oxide cream, and see a doctor if there is fever, blisters or drainage, or if the rash does not go away with treatment. Read September 2, 2026.
How to care for your baby’s skin, hair, and nails · American Academy of Dermatology. Bathe a baby two to three times a week, starting with sponge baths until the cord stump heals, in lukewarm water with mild, fragrance-free products applied only to the dirty areas such as the neck creases and the diaper area. Shade is the best protection from the sun. Read September 2, 2026.
“Hypoallergenic” Cosmetics · US Food and Drug Administration. There are no federal standards or definitions that govern the use of the term hypoallergenic; it means whatever a particular company wants it to mean, and manufacturers are not required to submit substantiation of the claim to FDA. That is why this site says what the word means each time it appears: a wipe with one ingredient. Read September 2, 2026.
Environmental Claims: Summary of the Green Guides · US Federal Trade Commission. An unqualified degradable claim means the item will completely break down within one year after customary disposal, and items destined for landfills, incinerators or recycling facilities will not degrade within a year. A compostable claim needs evidence that the product breaks down into usable compost and a qualification where home or municipal composting is not available. Broad unqualified claims such as eco-friendly should not be made. Read September 2, 2026.
STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX · OEKO-TEX. A label for textiles tested for harmful substances against a list of over a thousand; product class I, for babies and children up to three years, carries the strictest limit values. A certificate is valid for one year and can be checked by its number in the OEKO-TEX Label Check. Read September 2, 2026.
About Handwashing · US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Washing hands with soap and water is the best way to get rid of germs in most situations; if soap and water are not available, an alcohol-based sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol. The page does not list wipes as a way of washing hands, which is why this site says a cotton wipe cleans food off a face and is not a substitute for washing. Read September 2, 2026.
Trash It. Don’t Flush It · New York City Department of Environmental Protection. Poop, pee, puke and toilet paper are the only things to flush. A product labelled flushable generally means it will clear the toilet bowl, not that it breaks down in the sewer. The city spends about $18.8 million a year degreasing sewers and repairing backup damage, and a homeowner’s sewer-line repair can cost $10,000 to $15,000. Read September 2, 2026.
“Flushable” Wipes Clog Pipes · City of Albany, Oregon, Public Works. Products marketed as flushable fail disintegration tests. The 2020 National Association of Clean Water Agencies report put the cost of wipes to wastewater utilities at $440 million a year. Not sure whether something is flushable: throw it in the trash instead. Read September 2, 2026.
